If you‘re a victim of an offender named in a notice of payment into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account, you may be entitled to make a claim against the money awarded to the offender.

Notice of payment into Victims’ Claims Trust Account

This is the current list of offenders that have been awarded compensation:

Graham Ruatoto

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005, compensation awarded to Graham Ruatoto is required to be paid to the Secretary for Justice, and the surplus after deductions is to be held in Trust on behalf of Graham Ruatoto.

AND THAT on 16 May 2018, $21,510.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Graham Ruatoto. This money must be held in the Trust Account to enable any victims of Graham Ruatoto to make claims against it.

ANY PERSON that has been a victim of Graham Ruatoto, in respect of an offence for which Graham Ruatoto was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Graham Ruatoto. Claims by victims are not limited to the amount available in the Trust Account.

Ashor Gorges/Gorgus

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005, compensation awarded to Ashor Gorges/Gorgus is required to be paid to the Secretary for Justice, and the surplus after deductions is to be held in Trust on behalf of Ashor Gorges/Gorgus.

AND THAT on 30 July 2018, $6,500.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Ashor Gorges/Gorgus. This money must be held in the Trust Account to enable any victims of Ashor Gorges/Gorgus to make claims against it.

ANY PERSON that has been a victim of Ashor Gorges/Gorgus, in respect of an offence for which Ashor Gorges/Gorgus was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Ashor Gorges/Gorgus. Daryl Hetet

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005, compensation awarded to Daryl Hetet is required to be paid to the Secretary for Justice, and the surplus after deductions is to be held in Trust on behalf of Daryl Hetet.

AND THAT on 25 July 2018, $39,416.75 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Daryl Hetet. This money must be held in the Trust Account to enable any victims of Daryl Hetet to make claims against it.

ANY PERSON that has been a victim of Daryl Hetet, in respect of an offence for which Daryl Hetet was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Daryl Hetet. AND THAT on 14 August 2018, $5,030.62 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of David Soane. This money must be held in the Trust Account to enable any victims of David Soane to make claims against it.

ANY PERSON that has been a victim of David Soane, in respect of an offence for which David Soane was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of David Soane. TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005, compensation awarded to Gideon Wilson is required to be paid to the Secretary for Justice, and the surplus after deductions is to be held in Trust on behalf of Gideon Wilson.

AND THAT on 10 August 2018, $108,000.00 was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on behalf of Gideon Wilson. This money must be held in the Trust Account to enable any victims of Gideon Wilson to make claims against it.

ANY PERSON that has been a victim of Gideon Wilson, in respect of an offence for which Gideon Wilson was convicted in a Court of New Zealand, is entitled to make a claim against the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Gideon Wilson. Notice of end of process for making and determining victims’ claims

Michael Marino

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2, (subpart2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“the Act”), compensation awarded to Michael Marino was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 18 September 2017, and the surplus, was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 26 September 2017 on behalf of Michael Marino to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

AND THAT on 12 October 2017, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 14 October 2017, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and on 12 October 2017 on the website of the Ministry of Justice, of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of Victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

UNDER section 48(4) of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Michael Marino to a victim.

Stanley Hinga

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to part 2, (subpart2) of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (“the Act”), compensation awarded to Stanley Hinga was paid to the Secretary for Justice on 26 April 2018, and the surplus, was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 09 May 2018 on behalf of Stanley Hinga to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.

AND THAT on 11 May 2018, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 12 May 2018, in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and on 11 May 2018 on the website of the Ministry of Justice, of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of Victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.

UNDER section 32(1)(b) of the Act, the Secretary for Justice has now paid out all of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Stanley Hinga.
