Data tables

The tables are in Excel workbooks. Data is from the financial years 2008/2009 to 2017/2018. Financial years run from 1 July to 30 June.

Note that the data in these tables differs to that published by Stats NZ in the NZ.Stat tool. The data tables published here are the best source of information on specific offences or charge outcomes.

People charged and convicted

The number of charges and number of people charged and convicted.

Driving under the influence

The number of charges and number of people charged and convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Also includes number of people with orders for alcohol interlock devices.

Protection Order applications

Information includes the type of applications filed, outcomes, temporary Protection Orders granted, court locations and the age, gender and ethnicity of applicants and respondents.

The flow chart below shows the Protection Order application process for a person experiencing family violence. It shows the process to obtain a Final Protection Order for applicants who need urgent protection (a Without notice application) compared to those who don’t need urgent protection (an On notice application).
