Referral process for restorative justice pre-sentence cases

During the referral process, a case is passed onto the provider group by the court or police diversion officer. The provider then assesses whether the case is suitable for a restorative justice conference.

Restorative justice facilitator training & accreditation

The Ministry of Justice provides a restorative justice facilitator training and accreditation programme as part of our commitment to supporting quality restorative justice provision in New Zealand.

All practicing restorative justice facilitators need to be either restorative justice accredited or working towards accreditation. Facilitators seeking accreditation (and new facilitators) must satisfactorily complete restorative justice facilitation induction training. Restorative justice providers are responsible for ensuring that facilitators are enrolled on training courses and that facilitators are subsequently working towards accreditation.
